Hello, My name is Paul Straub and I am so thankful that I can be part of the Radiant Life Nazarene Family. I continue to be amazed that God not only loves me the way I am but has given me the opportunity to serve with a great group of people.
If God can love and accept me, I know that He loves and accepts you. Give Jesus a chance to show HIs love to you.
My Background
2021 - Present Like so many of us, we were coming out of COVID and wondering what life will look like. I was serving different churches in Southern California who were without a Pastor. This gave me a great opportunity to meet and worship with people from all backgrounds. In October of 2022 I was working with a team of pastors and a great church in Rancho Penasquitos was going through transition. I went to help out with some repair work and felt God's call to this group of people. In January, 2023 it was made official when I was called to serve at Radiant Life Nazarene Church. We have seen God do great things again and again and we are excited about the future. You are welcome to join us as we see what great things God has planned for us in the days and years ahead.
My Story
2010 - 2021 I was serving a church in Bishop, CA at the foot of the Eastern Sierras. It was beautiful and an amazing time for our children to grow up. Skiing at Mammoth for PE credits and a small pond in our front yard with trout! In 2012 God called Joy and I to San Diego where Joy took on a teaching position. Joy is an upper level math educator and my biggest help and cheerleader. We planted a church in Oceanside with great people and were able to connect with people we never would have. We saw lives and families changed by Gods love. When 2020 came we lost our location and God led our leadership team and others into different ministry areas, including out of state. God had something new for us!
My backstory
I was raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut and an only child. I know I'm spoiled! Typical growing up years with playing sports in the street, riding my toboggan in the winter and crashing a dirt bike. I had no idea where my life was heading after HS so I joined the Marine Corps. God was working in my life then and I was able to audition for and be tranferred to Marine Barracks 8th & I in Wash. D.C. I was part of the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps for 4 years. I transferred to Camp Pendleton for 3 years and there I faced my hardest moments with a divorce I didn't want and losing contact with my young daughter. In this time God held me together and called my into a personal relationship with Him. I have served in 3 churches as Lead Pastor and time as a Youth Pastor. I know what it is to see your dreams turn to dust and I hope you know that God is working and He wants to walk through that season of hurt and pain with you.
